August Wrapup
It’s hard to believe it’s the end of August and it’s been 4 months since my retirement from my career as a software engineer. To be honest, I don’t know how I ever had time to work a 40+ hour a week job. My days are so full now and it seems my ToDo list is ever growing. I have so many photos from various shoots to get into post processing along with learning some new tools. I have this star tracker that I purchased about 4 months ago so I can shoot the Milky Way with longer than 20 second exposures. This will in hopes increase the details and with smaller aperture and lower ISO have less noise. But I really need to get it out of the box and learn how to use it soon. There are only about 2 more months of shooting the center of the Milky Way from the northern hemisphere this year. So I hope for cloudless nights on the next new moon (9/6/2021). Which is unlike what occurred earlier this month. As for new equipment purchases. Really not much on the horizon right now. Just waiting for Sigma to come out with their next version of the 150-600mm F5 for Canon EF or RF lens mounts. This newer version will allow for much closer focus distance compared to the older model. Still not sure it’s worth the extra $800 or so? Still doing some training for ON1 Photo Raw and still would like to become a lot more familiar with Adobe Photoshop and DaVinci Resolve for video editing. Also, you can view my work on Facebook and Instagram. See the contact page of this web site. BTW: I’m getting quite annoyed with IG as they’ve censored a lot of other photographers that I follow. Also, their interface for photography is the absolute worst with only 1 x 1 crop available. Always have to massage my photos specially just for IG. I’m considering moving to another platform later this year. Maybe fansonly.com or twitter?
